Enjoying Jesus

Updated: Jul 9, 2021

John 14:16-18 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

We get wrapped up in life, and forget what Jesus has done for us. Enjoying your relationship with God is the goal.

In the Christian life we want to reach other people with the gospel so they also can enjoy a relationship with God.

The only way a person can have a relationship with God is through Jesus Christ and His finished work in The Gospel.

We can enjoy Jesus by remembering where He is. He is within you.

Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

He never leaves you, and He will never forsake you. You live through Him and He lives in you. This is not a feeling. It is a truth. We do not ask for Him to be with us, because He is already with us. Faith in Jesus means we trust that what He said is true. It is sad that many people wait for an “experience” instead of trusting that God is not a liar and that He is where he said He would be-with us. When we accept this, the Christian’s life can become a whole lot more interesting. It becomes more than begging for something that was already given.

Enjoy Jesus by trusting that He is the way.

John 14:5-6 “Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

How are we going to live the Christian life? Well, Jesus! He is the method. He is the strategy. He is the way. He is our only hope at succeeding at anything. “Without me you can do nothing.”

We live the Christian life in the same way that we received it. Through faith in Jesus. We get to trust every day that He is enough and keep our eyes on Him. The person who does this will not find themselves practicing “sin management” because they have their eyes on him who conquered sin and the penalty thereof. The Christian life is not a series of principles or a twelve step program to better living. It is a person and His name is Jesus Christ. He wants to express himself through you. Remember, He is the method.

Colossians 2:6 “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:”

Enjoy Him by knowing that you have peace with God through Jesus.

Rom 5:1-2 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

As Christians, God is not mad at us. Our sins have been totally forgiven. We have peace with God through our faith in what Jesus did.

It is through the finished work of Christ that we, as believers, are not at odds with God. We are no longer His enemies but we are blessed with Abraham to be called the friends of God by faith in Jesus Christ.

Galatians 3:9 “So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.”

We have been reconciled to God through Christ and His finished work. There is nothing separating us. Now we have the ministry of sharing this reconciliation with those who are lost.

The Gospel was given by a God who was happy to give it. (1 Timothy 1:11)

It is not a message of condemnation or anger from God. The debt has been cancelled and we are free. May we return this back to God with love and enjoyment of who He is and what He has done for us!
