Christ Is Our Life

Colossians 3:1-4 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."
As believers, Christ is our life. Jesus is our Savior. Many times we treat Jesus as just a door for salvation. Certainly, he is the door. Yet, He is so much more than just the door. He is our life!
Before His death, burial and resurrection Jesus told his followers in John 14:19 "Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also."
There is something that Christ offers to the believer that the law, or our performance of the law could not. It is a glorious thing that mankind lost in the Garden of Eden. Spiritual life. Look at what the scripture says about the law and its ability to offer life.
Galatians 3:21 "Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe."
The law could not give life, not by your obeying it or even believing in it's purity. The law is pure and good but the person who seeks to impress God must live it perfectly. No-one is capable of that. Therefore righteousness or spiritual life never came by the law. Rather, it came by faith in the perfect performance of Jesus Christ and His finished work. This includes His resurrection.
We can then conclude that it is not our performance that makes Christ our life. It is not our performance that places Him as "number one". It is not our keeping of a perfect prayer life or reading our Bible more than anyone else. Christ is our life because we believe He is. We believe He is good enough to impart life and eternal life at that.
Jesus is not one among many things on our daily agenda. Jesus gives us the life to have a schedule or an agenda. You see, this goes so much deeper than just spending a few moments with God. This means that you spend every day, all day with Him because He IS your life.
Colossians 2:6 "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:".
Fellow believer, Jesus is the one who makes you right. He is the one who walks with you. He never leaves you or forsakes you, and He is your life. In this New Testament age, He has broken down every barrier between you and Him. The veil is torn down the middle.
Don't get me wrong. I believe everyone should have a time set aside for Bible reading and prayer. There also needs to come a realization and a faith that grows to the point of knowing that in every phase of life He is with us. We walk in what He has given us, which is Himself. We live the Christian life the same way we received the Savior. We do so by faith in Him, not ourselves or our performance. We focus our eyes on Him. He can then take care of the rest.
